how-to-stop-worrying-and-start-trusting-God

There were times when I worried to the point that I thought I would never be able to overcome.

But that very thought made everything worse.

I tried various methods but I still didn’t have the peace and hope that I needed.

Something was still missing so I decided to turn to God for help.

In this blog post, I’m sharing some lessons I learned that helped me to stop worrying using the Word of God.

How To Stop Worrying And Start Trusting God

Here are 3 things that I did that I did to stop worrying and start trusting God.

1) I Memorized and Repeated Bible Verses

Worry is closely related to fear and fear fuels worrisome thoughts and feelings. The more you dwell on thoughts of fear, the more intense the feelings of worry become.

I knew that I needed to change my thoughts so I looked for Bible verses that are related to fear and worry. Then I started memorizing and repeating them daily especially when I was afraid.

(I have included 21 Bible verses at the end of this article that will help you to conquer fear and worry)

2) I Prayed about My Problems Instead of Worrying

A passage of the Bible that really helped to relieve worry is Philippians 4:6-7 which says:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

The solution is given in a step-by-step manner:

Step 1: Don’t worry about anything

Step 2: Pray about everything

Step 3: Talk to God about what you need

Step 4: Give God thanks

Step 5: Then experience the peace of God that passes human understanding to guard your heart and mind

This passage encourages us to pray about our cares instead of worrying.

I have followed these steps repeatedly and have experienced true peace that comes only from God. So if you want to experience real peace, make sure to follow the steps.

3) I Chose to Trust in God

Whenever I experienced fear and worry, I realized that I had two options.

I could choose to keep worrying or I could choose to believe what God says in the Bible.

I already chose worrying multiple times in the past and it got me nowhere.

So I decided to put my faith in God. I chose to take Him at His Word.

You have heard it repeatedly: “Worrying does not solve problems.”

The truth is praying and trusting God can do far more than worrying will ever do.

How Can You Deal With Worry As A Christian Woman?

You can trust God instead of worrying.

God is all-powerful and there are no limits to His capabilities or abilities. He can help you to overcome challenges including fear and anxiety.

You don’t have to be paralyzed or hindered by fear and worry.

You can overcome!

But What Does It Mean to Trust God?

“Trust” means that there is assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.

So trusting God means that you are confidently relying on the character, ability, strength, and truth of Him.

God is faithful and powerful, and nothing is impossible for Him.

If you want lasting relief from worry, trust God to take care of all that troubles your mind.

If you are constantly worried and perplexed by the cares of life then you can expect that your stress levels will increase.

However, if you choose to trust God, you will find great relief as the “weight of the world” is lifted from your shoulders.

Every time you feel stressed and worried, you need to remind yourself that God is in control.

This profound truth can put your mind and body at ease if you choose to believe it.

We often try to plan and organize our lives so that everything will go as planned.

Failed plans and unexpected outcomes are reminders you don’t have as much control as you think or would like to have. It is true that you have a role to play and you can control what you do.

However, you cannot control every external factor because you are not ultimately in control so the outcome is not totally up to you.

God is the only one who is in total control. And He is all-powerful, all-wise and you can rest assured that His plans for you are good.

Here are some Bible verses that will help you to stop worrying and start trusting God.

Takeaway

You can stop worrying as a Christian by renewing your mind with the Word of God.

Your thoughts of fear are from the enemy. And the enemy is the father of lies so those thoughts are not true.

The Word of God is truth and it will help you to identify the lies of the enemy.

That’s why you need to fill your mind with the truth of God so that you can readily identify the lies that are planted in your mind.

The Bible also tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. So the more you meditate on the Word of God, the more your faith in God will grow.

And as your faith in God grows, you will experience His peace and you will have more courage to make bold moves and to walk in obedience and purpose.
