Do you trust God at all times or does your faith waver when times get difficult?

I know that sometimes when things don’t go as expected, my faith in God gets a little shaky. And that’s when I have to remind myself that God is trustworthy. And I do that by reflecting on His character and ability.

There are some qualities that are inherent to God which means that they are permanent.

God will always have those qualities no matter what.  They are often referred to as attributes of God.

These attributes are the reason you can anchor your faith in God and trust Him no matter what. These characteristics of God will NEVER change!

And that’s why we can trust God all the time. Here are 4 powerful reasons to trust God at all times no matter what.

1.  God is Omniscient

Omniscient refers to knowing everything.

God knows everything….the past, the present and the future. He even knows the thoughts and motives of each person even if the person never expresses them verbally (Matthew 9:4, James 4:3).

Nothing is hidden from God.

This is great news because it lets us know that God is perfect in knowledge.

When He has a decision to make, He can take everything into consideration, the past and the future as well as the hidden motives of everyone.

You can rest assured that when you ask God for His direction and provision, He will make the best decision because He sees how everything fits together. He is ordering your steps perfectly and all things will together for good.

Here are some Bible verses that refer to the omniscience of God.

1 John 3:20 (NIV)

If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

Jeremiah 17:10 (NIV)

“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

2. God is Omnipotent

Omnipotence refers to having unlimited power which means that God is able to do everything.

There is no limit to His power so He has the capacity and ability to do anything.

This is good ground to build your faith. It is amazing to know that God is not restricted by laws of nature and He is not restricted by human laws. He is not governed by them. This should strengthen your faith.

After Job’s encounter with God, he realized that nothing can stop God’s purpose (Job 42:2).

Miracles are evidence of God’s omnipotence. They show that He can do even the things that seem impossible.

After the birth of Isaac, I’m sure Abraham and Sarah were certain that there is nothing too hard for God. Sarah was past child-bearing age yet she gave birth to her first child, Isaac at the age of 90 years.

Likewise, Mary and Martha would have realized that God has power over death after seeing their brother, Lazarus being raised from the dead.

So when you pray, you can rest assured that God has the ability to provide for you and protect you.

He can do anything even the things that you think are impossible.

What do you want God to do? Do you need healing, clients, a job, a spouse or a child? Trust Him to meet your needs.

Here are some Bible verses that refer to the omnipotence of God.

Nehemiah 9:6 (NIV)

You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

John 11:43-44 (NIV)

When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

3. God is Omnipresent

Omnipresence refers to being present everywhere at the same time.

This means that God is always with you and He sees everything. He will never leave you or forsake you.

Remember that God is all-powerful and He is your refuge and shield. So that means you always have His protection and access to His power no matter where you go because He is right there.

And even if you are faced with obstacles and challenges, you can be comforted knowing that His wisdom and power are with you at that very moment.

Here are some Bible verses that refer to the omnipresence of God.

Proverbs 15:3 (NIV)

The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

Psalm 139:7-12 (NIV)

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

Jeremiah 23:23-24 (NIV)

“Am I only a God nearby,”
declares the Lord,
“and not a God far away?

Who can hide in secret places
so that I cannot see them?”
declares the Lord.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”
declares the Lord.

4.  God is Faithful

There are several definitions of faithful. It means:

  • Deserving trust: keeping your promises or doing what you are supposed to do
  • Having or showing true and constant support or loyalty
  • Steadfast in allegiance

So when we say that God is faithful, we are really saying that He keeps His promises and He does what He says He will do. He shows true and constant support and loyalty.

When God says something, He means it and He will fulfil it. He is not like man and He does not lie (Numbers 23:19). God speaks the truth and anything He says will be accomplished (Isaiah 55:11).

And we know that He can do what He says because we know that He is omnipotent. There are no limits to His capabilities or abilities. With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26)

This characteristics of faithfulness helps us to trust God.

Here are some Bible verses that refer to the faithfulness of God.

Numbers 23:19 (NIV)

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV)

As the rain and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Takeaway

Sugar will always be sweet and it cannot be anything else but sweet.  So sweetness is an inherent quality of sugar. Likewise, God cannot be anything but omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and faithful.

He will never change and that’s why you can trust Him all the time!

These attributes help us to trust God. They also help us to realize that God is not man. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:7-9). His Word will always accomplish that which He sent it for.

If He said it, it will be done.

You can take Him at His Word. You can trust Him wholeheartedly no matter what.
